A Month of Giving Thanks

Gratitude has been scientifically proven to have several health benefits. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude can improve sleep and immunity, increase energy levels and self-esteem, and make us kinder and overall happier.

Here at Morgan Organizers, we are grateful for you – our clients and visitors to our website. So for November’s blog, we’re going to suggest a few ways that you can cultivate gratitude on a daily basis.

Any habit changes are easier to make when they are small and incremental, so here are some small, fun, and easy ways to bring more gratitude – and more health – into your life.

  • Give thanks in the morning: These days, checking a cell phone is commonly the first thing we do in the morning when the alarm clock goes off – before we even get out of bed. Try taking just a minute or two immediately after you wake up, and think of just three things you feel gratitude for in your life. Doing this before focusing on anything else on a daily basis can literally rewire the brain.

  • Give thanks in the afternoon: Or any time of the day, as often as you’d like. Let someone in your life know that you’re grateful for them. Maybe a coworker always responds to questions via email in a timely manner. Maybe your child finally started putting dirty laundry in the hamper, or your spouse makes you eggs for breakfast just how you like them. It’s amazing how acknowledging these little things can boost not only your health, but the health of your relationships.

  • Give thanks by giving a gift: Do something unexpected for someone else. Buy a cup of coffee for the person in line behind you. Open the door for someone whose hands are full. Let the parent with a baby go in front of you on line. Also known as Random Acts of Kindness, bringing joy to others brings joy to you.

  • Give thanks in the evening: Before going to bed, think of at least one thing that happened during your day that made you feel grateful, even if you didn’t recognize it when it happened.

Thanksgiving time is always a good reminder to reboot our gratitude. Morgan Organizers wishes you and your loved ones a beautiful month filled with gratitude for all of the goodness life brings, whether big or small.
